I have recently started a new relationship and the issue of contraception has come up. I'm not going to say too much here, because this is a very personal matter and any explanations I give here concern both past and present partners who I'm sure will not thank me for publicising the facts, so all I will say is that it looks as if I'm going to have to put hormones in my body again in the form of either the pill or the injection. Since I am so careful about what I put into my body these days, right down to the moisturisers and deodorants I use, I am slightly nervous about how my body will react. Today I was convinced the injection is the way forward, but I've done a 180 and am now thinking that the plain old mini-pill is the thing. Thing is, the injection is a dose that goes in in one go and releases slowly over 3 months. Now I'm no scientist, but that must mean that a large dose is present somewhere in your body in one go - no matter how you look it. Whereas the pill is a small daily dose. Plus I've been reading some scary negative stories about the injection. At least I know that when I last took the pill, which was aeons ago, I had no bad side-effects that I can remember. If you have any opinions or stories on the topic, I'd love to hear from you.
