The weather has been glorious these last few days - spring is well and truly here. At this point of the year in London, I would have been getting down... thoughts of a sweltering, stifling, uncomfortable summer ahead. Now I'm here where there's cleaner air and loads of space, the joy of spring and anticipation of a wonderful summer is intoxicating.
On Thursday, I knocked off work early and headed up to Southerndown with J for an impromptu picnic. It was stunning... deeply relaxing... bliss. I've never posted a movie in here before - no idea if it will work - let's hope so... ...ah - ok so no can do... I wonder how easy it is to use YouTube to host it and link to it here... there's a little Easter adventure...
OK... that was easy... except the quality is a bit pants. Check it out anyway - a 360 view of Southerndown bay...
On the way home we took a slight diversion via a friend of J's to a little village called Merthyr Mawr. There was noone home, but just to see their idyllic little homestead was an inspiring treat.
A second stop-off took us to Coed Hills. In the big room, three of the residents were playing flutes (or pipes of some kind anyway) whilst in the kitchen, others prepared the supper. A glass of mint tea, the herb picked especially I believe, and a quick tour of the yurt and the stone circle and I was ready to leave these gentle people to their nourishing dinner, but they insisted we stay and share their food. If I had just cooked a dinner for a certain number of people and 2 uninvited guests turned up I wonder if I would be so generous. Probably, but their warmth and hospitality was nonetheless humbling and heartwarming. Very cool people.
The sunset was awesome as we left (top)... a blissed out day.
