What can nature teach us about life? How can we work with it to improve our wellbeing?
In this humorous and informative talk, "TV gardening angel" Lynne Allbutt shares her experience and insights of gardening and the outdoor life to inspire and influence our health and happiness.
"Working with Nature and natural energy" she explains "is far from being 'New Age'. I see it as a return to old fashioned values and intuition. Oh, and common sense - something that technology seems to have squeezed out of our lives."
"As a real 'outdoor-ist' I passionately advocate Nature as Teacher and always try to see things from the plants point of view. The outdoors is the biggest playground of all", she says, "Fresh air and physical activity is just the best tonic for the mind and the body. Nature can teach us so much about how to conduct other aspects of our lives too. We should take time to listen."

About Lynne Allbutt
Lynne Allbutt started her own gardening business in 1985. By 2003, Lynne was presenting a Garden Makeover series for BBC Wales called Hot Plots closely followed by the 15 part series Gardening Angels with Mark Curry on UK Style.
Lynne writes a weekly column for The Western Mail, contributes regularly to The Abergavenny Chronicle and The Abergavenny and Valleys Focus and other publications and has also written a book, Personali-trees, which is currently being developed for a second edition.
Her energy and enthusiasm is infectious and her Charity work reflects her love of life and physical challenges. She has raised over £20,000.00 by running marathons, wing walking, parachute jumping, horse-riding and a solo 4x4 expedition to Iceland to run the Reykavik marathon. Her most recent fundraiser was to compile and feature in a saucy calendar 'Diamonds and Daffodils' to celebrate Marie Curie's 60th Anniversary.
Lynne continues to run a consultancy and design service and is well-known for her attention to detail and for understanding and interpreting the needs and vision of the Client. These qualities are perfectly illustrated in her most recent design for the RHS Cardiff sponsored by Really Welsh and Caerphilly Garden centre. You can see The Really Fit Garden in Cardiff's Bute Park from 17th-19th April. Aided by comedian Rhod Gilbert, this short video provides a little taster of this fun, functional and thought-provoking garden:
It is the desire to highlight the importance of common-sense, integrity and happiness that initiated the development of some of the courses Lynne offers. "I believe strongly in personal accountability and that everyone has the right to feel good. People should be joining in life, not just sitting on the bench watching the game. There are all sorts of reasons many of us don't feel 'enough' - good enough, thin enough, pretty enough, rich enough, strong enough, brave enough, but we are! We all have something to contribute and the secret is in realising and accepting that....today! I have been lucky enough to work with some brilliant, inspirational people and want to share what I've discovered. I don't have a medical background, all my learning has been from the School of Real Life. It's never too late to start creating the life you really want."
Lynne is also a Member of Mensa with an IQ of 158, has a full motorbike licence, is a keen fisherwoman and was voted Wales's Sexiest Outdoor Worker by readers of Wales on Sunday.
