Following the post about Google Page Rank, I've had a couple of emails asking how I know what my page rank is? Before I explain, please accept my apologies - I can't believe I forgot to tell you that bit!
Now for the answer... what you need is the full size Google Toolbar. This is something that will sit at the top of your browser page along with the toolbars you currently have displayed.
If you are a total novice and don't know what a toolbar is, click on 'View' (top of the page you're looking at right now, alongside File and Edit) and then put your cursor over "Toolbars'. You'll see some names, some with ticks next to them, eg. Navigation. Untick one for a second and it'll disappear. To get it back, just click on View and Toolbars again and click on the toolbar name you just unticked! And there it is back again.
Now the Google Toolbar has a permanent google search box in it so you don't have to go to the Google homepage to run a search and for that alone its worth installing. But it also has the PageRank gauge as well as a couple of other handy little widgets.
There are different versions of the Google Toolbar depending on whether you are running Internet Explorer or Firefox. For security and faster browsing, you are far better off switching to Firefox, which is free and really simple to download and install. If you want to do that now, scroll down the page and click on the little GET FIREFOX button in the right hand column just below the Recent Posts list.
If you are still living dangerously :o) and running IE, click here
