I'd say that c.99% of my clients want to work less and earn more by creating passive income streams online. For many, this translates as affiliate links and Google AdSense on their Typepad blogs, websites and social media profiles. If you visit regularly, you will know that I'm a bit of an erratic blogger. I have no shortage of things I want to share with you - in fact, I have a really exciting list I keep - but sometimes, I either just can't face it (being too 'blogged out') or I'm just too plain busy - with other people's blogs!

Well, today - I have found the perfect therapy for this condition - courtesy of another fantastic business blog consultant Chris Cree over at SuccessCREEations.com. In his post 'Back In The Saddle' Chris says,

"Like getting thrown from a horse you have to climb back aboard at the soonest available opportunity. The longer you wait, the harder it becomes. Our minds have this weird ability to build up these huge mental barriers to getting started sometimes."

As I said in my comment on said post - I need to print that one out and pin it to my wall!  How reassuring to know that I am in good company with this issue and how wonderful that Chris is so open and honest about it. Truly inspiring. Thanks Chris. :o)

Inserting Google AdSense into Typepad Blog Posts - Video Tutorial

Had an email from a client this morning asking about inserting Google AdSense into blog posts - as opposed to 'in the margins' as a Typelist.  I've been meaning to start doing this myself so thought I'd knock up a quick 'how to' video on the topic. As you will see when you watch, my first attempt fails - but I have a little 'hot tip' up my sleeve which cures the problem.

I'm actually in two minds about whether to post this one or not as (a) the video quality is not great  - not sure why - I'm still getting to grips with Camtasia - think it might be too big too, and (b) I feel very exposed by it - you can hear me thinking and talking to myself like a nutcase. :o)  It takes a while to load too, but I think it's worth it.  As always, we're talking TypePad here (Get a 14 Day Free Trial!). If you are already blogging, you can get started right away. The entire video (including my mistakes) is about 11 minutes long, so you should be able to complete this exercise in a much shorter time.

PopShops.com - New Typepad Affiliate Widget

Gosh - I'm always doing this... starting a post and forgetting about it.  Wrote this a couple of weeks ago!

Came across a new Typepad Widget today. PopShops.com is described as an Affiliate Shop Builder. Here's the blurb on this affiliate program 'aggregator' from Typepad's Widget Gallery,

Lorelle VanFossen asks 'Conversation Blog or Answer Blog?'

Been beavering away on various blogs all evening and I really want to chill now, so this is going to be short and sweet!

Want to share a fantastic post on BlogHerald about why some blogs attract more comments than others.  The writer is Lorelle VanFossen of Lorelle on Wordpress, a superb blog for Wordpress bloggers.  It's so obvious when you think about it.

So what kind of blog is yours? This blog's got to be something like 90% Answer 10% Conversation, I'd say.
